Description The out-and-back design takes runners on the last six miles of the Marathon course. After looping once through Newpark, the course turns south toward Park City and climbs gradually as it passes Swaner Nature Preserve, winds through quiet neighborhoods and open space, and follows McLeod Creek path with its plank bridges, beaver ponds and aspen stands. The course then goes under Highway 224 via a tunnel, past the McPolin barn shown on our logo and finisher t-shirts, and continues on a gentle uphill trend through quiet residential areas. The turn around point is near Rotary Park, and after that, it's back the same way—and a gentle downhill through the spectacular scenery and beautiful trails.

2012
Mary Steinhauser The scenery was gorgeous with sculptures adding interest. It was trail and paved.

Rebecca Mehregan Wasn't as scary as the altitude would have you think. Lovely public art along the way. Half marathon is run on the last 6 miles of the marathon course.

Mandy Palmucci Hilly race, though nothing was steep - you are just always going gradually uphill or downhill. Very small (small enough the race organizer doesn't use a megaphone to announce the start of the race even though it's needed) and primarily run on a trail. Plenty of aid stations with great volunteers; sports drink of choice is PowerAde. I'm sure the scenery was gorgeous, but I spent the whole time looking at the ground!
