Duane Willis I give it an OK if you are in super shape, and have run many MANY trail runs. Otherwise, I would not recommend. It is pretty scenic (all trail runs are), but it had too few aid stations (4 total, at miles 4, 4.5, 6.8 and 10--nothing during the last three when you need it, and nothing until AFTER the crazy steep hill). They don't mislead you on the website, and the people are very friendly, but the course is a bit too advanced for the average runner, in my opinion.

Josh Boyd The Race Description sums it up for me. I submitted the description to half2run when I reported the race. Please pardon the grammatical mistakes. They're my fault; my mind just wasn't quite online when I wrote that. The Twisted Ankle race is great for runners of any skill level ranging from experts to beginners. But the race seemed much easier than all of the training runs because I ran with someone who shared my "pace" that day. Also, I would strongly recommend running on unincorporated roadways to train for this one. Perhaps forestry service roads and hiking trails would be the best terrain on which to train. Before the race, I heard about special shoes for trail running, but I didn't have any problems running in my Asics.
