| My first Half Marathon! A great race, beautiful course! |
| |
| This was my first half marathon and seemed very well organized. Weather was good. A lot of good enthusiastic volunteers along the way. Very pretty tree-lined run next to the Huron River. |
| |
| cooler then last year |
| |
| I did this race last minute. I liked the scenery along the river. Hated the last long uphill section. |
| |
| Good run! |
| |
| Weather was ideal, nice course, and plentiful food at the finish. Managed to PR despite cramping part way through. Would have been nice if they had handed out GU (or similar) somewhere along the way, but a that's a minor point. Overall a nice experience. |
| |
| Great weather, support was better this year than in the past. If only they could level that last uphill..... |
| |
| Course follows a river road for the most part. While there are trees, we were in the sun more often than not and it was quite warm. The heat may not have been anticipated this year. |
| |
| It was hot this year -- and I don't run well in the heat. Same beautiful course, but wish the race started earlier. |
| |
| It was hot and hilly this year. No water at the finish. Last year it was flat and fun. |
| |
| I didn't run well; I don't do heat. The race was well organized, as always, but I do wish it started way earlier in the day. |
| |
| Very Hot!!! |
| |
| Pretty course, good volunteers, but only 1 star.
Water and gatorade were out or low by mile 6, none at finish and the WORST-REUSING the water cups-YES, I saw them doing this. VERY long lines at finish for food. I am TIRED of races getting bigger and not being prepared. This is my MI half and will not go back |
| |
| |
| |
| Nice course for a road race. Zingerman's bread at the finish too. |
| |
| This was my very first half marathon. Beaufiful course but it was very hard at the end. I would like to try next year again to see how I feel. |
| |
| Great run! Awesome course. Well organized. |
| |
| 1:31:33 Chip Time. Great race with excellent weather. Apparently, they are infamous for "there's a tree on the course". Whatever it was, caused a 35 minute delay. That was the only bad part. |
| |
| One of my favorites. |
| |
| Good Race. Humid. Liked pizza at end. |
| |
| I have run this half 14 times and enjoyed every one. The run at the end into Ann Arbor is always challenging. |
| |
| Delay to remove tree from course moved start back a half hour. Beautiful scenery along course including rolling hills. Finish in downtown Ann Arbor was great. |
| |
| As always, nice course; but, it would have been nice to have the start time at the planned 8:30am (a fallen tree had to be removed from the course and delayed the start until 9am). Warm and muggy but mostly cloudy. |
| |
| Beautiful course! |
| |
| Pretty course. Love the downtown Ann Arbor finish. |
| |
| This was my first point-to-point race, and I loved it. They did a great job, and the course is beautiful. |
| |
| I love this race. I've ran the 1/2 every year for the past 3 years. |
| |
| Very hill and challenging |
| |
| Great Race.....perfect day!!! |
| |
| 2:05:41 - Good Race, rolling hills and last 3 miles pretty much uphill. Nice course along river and wooded areas. Good competition for running. Next year make start time at 7am vs 8:50 |
| |
| A beautiful day for a run and a nice course made for a great race. Only improvements that I would like to see is an earlier starting time and more food choices at the end (although this may be a conflict problem with the "Taste of Ann Arbor" promotion).
| |
| Very scenic course. Going up the hill at the end (finish at the high school) was a bit of a drag. Lots of cheering crowds at the end. |
| |
| My first ever half marathon. |
| |
| Beautiful course following a tree lined river. Well organized and friendly. Expo was really crowded. |
| |
| Day was beautiful, but warm. Finish was a extremely steep hill. Tough when you are out of gas. Scenic run by the river |
| |
| This was my first half marathon and I loved it! Not as bad as everyone made the hill out to be. |
| |
| Hot, humid, & hilly. A perfect course for training! Enjoyed the shade & the Huron River. |
| |
| TOUGH last hill |
| |
| Nice course but I fell down less than a mile into the run and twisted my ankle. |
| |
| I did the 10K. This is always a fun race. |
| |
| great day. don't be intimidated by the hill |
| |
| Great race - looking forward to returning to AA next year. |
| |
| Great weather. Last mile was tough. |
| |
| A tough course, but I was able to PR (not a time to brag about for most, but I'll take it.) Very tough hill at the end--last in a series of them that started just about the 12 mile. The later start made it a bit warm, but there was a fair amount of shade along the way. Well organized in my opinion. |
| |
| Great race, one of the most scenic I have ran, well organized , very tough hill at the finish. |
| |
| Very beautiful course!!! The course was altered a bit this year with a tough finishing hill. Crowd support was as good as I've seen. |
| |
| Spur of the moment decision and glad I did it! Just completed the Bayshore full a week prior. Loved this race and would do it again in a a heart-beat! |
| |
| Great local race & enjoyable to run. New finish this year added more of a challenge with the steeper hill at mile 12, but the hills were doable. Goal was to finish under 2:00 after a less than stellar run at this race in 2006, so goal accomplished!
Wish the race started earlier. Terrific running by our RF Team 501, and lots of great support from spectators! |
| |
| good |
| |
| It was a warm day. I love this run! |
| |
| Very hot and humid. Really nice course, rolling hills almost all the way with an uphill last mile. The best part was all the food at the end |
| |
| crappy weather! |
| |
| It was my worst "time" since running this distance, but one of the best times because I ran it with a friend. |
| |
| Tough but enjoyable course. First half marathon that I have ever ran. I would have to describe my feelings after finishing as a combination of pride in a great accomplishment while getting my butt kicked (by the course, that is). |
| |
| Touch run. Very hilly. Hot day... still a fun run.... |
| |
| Very wet and rainy this year. But still fun! |
| |
| No problem with packet pick up day before race.Weather delay this year(a tree fell on the course)Great ending at the taste fest |
| |
| Nice race route. |
| |
| It was a beautiful route along the river. |
| |
| Scenic, somewhat hilly course. Would prefer an earlier start time. (than 9am) Great medal. Taste of Ann Arbor post race very enjoyable. |
| |
| Nice medals. |
| |
| The race, course, was reminiscent of the early part of Boston course! |
| |
| I like that it's a point-to-point race along fairly scenic roads. I liked the final climb to the finish in downtown Ann Arbor in the middle of the fair. |
| |
| perfect day |
| |
| Georgeous!!! The river and course are perfect and i met a great friend who led me to run my first marathon. |
| |
| beautiful countryside and river view, a great way to experience a southern Michigan spring day, food and performances followed the run (bib 457) |
| |
| No medal. Shirts were nice. Course was nice. No potties for 10 miles. Good entertainment. |
| |
| Beautiful course, well organized |
| |
| Beautiful route, loved all the musicians who came out to entertain us!!!! |
| |
| My second time around with the Dexter/AA and a much better finish. The cool, cool weather made a big difference for me - that and much better training! A really beautiful, great day and a lot of fun. |
| |
| This was my first 'real' half marathon and it was well worth it. (I ran the Trail Half in Pinckney as a training run with the hopes this race would seem 'easy' by comparison.) It's a great event, and fortunately this year the weather was perfect for running. (Ran the 10K last year.) I slowed down when I reached miles 8-9 and did not exactly enjoy the .5 mi incline to the finish line. Otherwise it was great! |
| |
| enjoyed the run, i got to see Elvis twice, who said he was dead. |
| |
| The course was very scenic and mostly slightly downhill until the last mile. Volunteers were great. We had great weather also. Nice to run a medium sized race since recent ones for me had been large numbers of runners. Would highly recommend it to others. |
| |
| What a kick off to my Marathon training this season. It was cold and rainy to start but as soon as we started running it stopped drizzling and started to clear up. By the time we hit that last half mile stretch into downtown A2 it was gorgeous and could not have been a more perfect day for a run. Terrific course...very scenic with the river on the left and the woods on the right. This was my first Dexter to Ann Arbor and I hope to do it every year going forward. |
| |
| I had my best race yet and much of it was thanks to the perfect weather, scenic course, and friendly crowd. The school by the start was fantastic - plenty of space to stretch inside (and out of the rain) and real bathrooms!! The Elvis impersonator and local musicians were welcome entertainment, especially the drummers at the end whose rhythms really pumped me up for the last hilly mile! |
| |
| (2006) "Gently rolling" hills could be interpreted a few different ways... Not a bad course, despite the gloomy weather. It was neat to finish right there at the Taste of Ann Arbor, but ending on a long hill surrounded by unenthusiastic fans doesn't make for a memorable finish. The post race layout could have been better (the water table took a few blocks to find at the end) and instead of a race medal, you were given a race t-shirt - nothing special. The "live" entertainment along the course was almost non-existent too. Other than that, it was a fun race...;) |
| |
| Well organized. Buses were on time, course was well marked, mile splits were accurate. Nice race as far as that goes. I don't like the fact that they start the 10k while the 1/2 is going on. We run into the walking part of the 10k. Felt like I was playing a zig zag game through the last 4 miles. Plus, had a bit of a problem at gear check. They were behind in getting bags out and seemed to have 'hidden' some bags. Mine was one of them. |
| |
| Beautiful Course! It was hot this year. |
| |
| ran this race when i was 14 (1991) - looking to pr on the course this year (2006) ; ) |
| |
| I first ran this race as a half-marathon on 5/29/82. Prior to that it was 15 miles and finished at Ann Arbor Huron High School rather than downtown. This is one of my favorite races and I run it as often as I can. I love being bussed out to Dexter and then running Huron River Drive all the way back with no traffic to deal with. It's always too hot, but always worth the trip! |
| |
| Nice nature run. Very hot! |
| |
| Good buzz! |
| |
| Great race. So scenic. |
| |
| looking forward to doing it again |
| |
| Hot & humid. Still love the course! |
| |
| nice course |
| |
| Awfully warm 92F, LAST 4 miles uphill |
| |
| Very humid day. Great course but save something for the hill at the end. Have run this half almost every year since 1987. Best time is 1:26 |
| |
| Wonderful run. But, HOT, HOT, HOT!
First time with new plumbing! |
| |
| Well organized.
The run was nice in the shade :) |
| |
| Beautiful run along the Huron river. Well organized with lots of water stops. I did this one the day after running the Sunburst at Notre Dame. |
| |
| I ran this race several times 2003 was the only time I ws able to break 2:00. It starts late and is usually hot. Great run, very scenic. |
| |
| This was my first "half" 10 years ago and one of my favorites because its a beautiful course (at least in the "concrete" category). I wish they had left it on Memorial Weekend, though, and I wish it hadn't been so darned HOT this year. The spectators with hoses and sprinklers are always great, & there's actually a good amount of shade... and I agree the T-shirts are abysmal. I was also glad to see that people stopped using the cemetery across from Dexter HS as a urinal this year! |
| |
| HHHOOOOTTTT!! My first time running this one and my lasting impression was how hot it was to run. Enjoyed the people and especially the shady trees! |
| |
| I have run the Dexter Ann Arbor for 5 years now. This was my 3rd half. It has to be one of the hardest runs I've done so far due to the heat. But the course itself is great and I always enjoying running it every year. I ran this in 2005 |
| |
| Well it was my first half marathon. Other than the heat and the crew cleaning up as I finished- it was painfully enjoyable. |
| |
| Always a good time -- a wee bit warm the first few miles. The chocolate bananas were not even tempting due to the heat. I have run this one 7 times. While the run was organized really, really well -- pat yourself on the back organizer, the t-shirts are usually, well, ugly. |
| |
| Great Ann Arbor race. Hot, though. Things went fine up until mile 8, then it was slow, slow, slow. |
| |
| This race is highly organized, very efficient, and well executed. The course was nice and open after the initial few miles of the race and boy was it a hot morning. It's nice to have a local race this nicely done, I will be back next year. This was such a nice treat after the chaos at the Lakeshore half marathon (Chicago) on Memorial day. |
| |
| Ran it in 2003. Great weather, great course, great time until that last hill! |
| |
| 06-06-04 |
| |
| I ran this in 2003. Great weather that day. |
| |
| I've run the 10K for years and the half marathon for the last 3 years. It's a great track and a staple for the Ann Arbor running season...it's on my yearly schedule. |
| |
| Good buzz! |
| |
| Nice run! |
| |
| Good buzz! |
| |
| 5 times at Dex-AA |
| |
| Always a favorite. Great course along huron River. |
| |
| I'm still enjoying this fun. |
| |
| It was my first half marathon. The hill at the end was very difficult for me then but much easier now. The offers nice views and was well run |
| |
| I had to skip last year because I broke my foot that year and was on crutches. |
| |
| Good buzz! |
| |
| My fourth Dex-AA. |
| |
| Good buzz! |
| |
| Dexter-Ann Arbor is one of the best. Beautiful winding road with nice uphill challenge at the end. No cars. Lots to do when you finish including pubs that are open if you run slowly enough. |
| |
| I ate a hot dog just before the hill. I'll never do that again. |
| |
| always fun. super course and people. |
| |
| A sick raccoon said hello to runners. |
| |
| Deer ran across in front of us. |
| |
| My third Dex-AA |
| |
| What a challenge. |
| |
| What a challenge. |
| |
| Back again in 1994. |
| |
| Always a favorite. Great course. |
| |
| Only 1 hill............. |
| |
| Beautiful, scenic course along the Huron River. Transition from rural to downtown Ann Arbor is a welcome wrap up. |
| |
| Yearly must run event. Great point-to-point course. |
| |
| One of my favorite races. Great course. |
| |
| Point-to-point, rolling course along Huron River. One of my favorite runs. |
| |
| Great course. Well organized. |
| |
| Great course. Always 1st hot race of the year! |
| |
| 1st year it switched from 15 miles to half-marathon. One of my favorite runs. |
