| Awesome running around the speedway. Very crowded course, so just relax and enjoy. |
| |
| Near perfect weather. This was my 22nd time and I still enjoy running around the 500 Speedway. The volunteers and support on the course were great. |
| |
| Great race, lots of bands, the run through the grandstands on the track was a memorable experience. Nice medal with checkered flag ribbon. |
| |
| Great race well org lots of bands etc near hotels downtown |
| |
| It was fun running at the Indy 500 speedway, but this was a very crowded race. |
| |
| The best organized race I have ever been too!!! |
| |
| Warm and humid on race day, took it very slow to ensure a finish! |
| |
| Race started out a little warm and just got worse. I finished vertical and that was a victory! :-) My 21st 500 Festial mini. |
| |
| Hot & Very Humid this year. Far from best time, but still fun! |
| |
| This was my 21st 500 Mini. Weather conditions were not good very humid and 68. Enjoyable race but heat and humidity made it very difficult resulting in slow times for everyone. |
| |
| This was a hot & humid race. Had to run slow. GREAT RACE!!!! |
| |
| Well organized. |
| |
| Awesome race! What a blast running on the track. Great crowds and entertainment on the course. The aid stations were well marked. |
| |
| This is a flat course. 2.5 miles of it is running around the Indy 500 track. Many people complain that it is just too crowded. There are nearly 40,000 runners. I was in Corral E and the crowds were not an issue to me. Maybe farther back in Corrals is an issue. The race itself is nice. Best Crowd Support of any race I have been in so far. This will be an annual race for me. |
| |
| 45,000 runners about says it all, every runner should experience this race at least once. Fantastic race and really great run around the Brickyard. |
| |
| Flat course, great community support, lots of bands and aid stations. Race officials did a great job with this many runners. Loved going on the Speedway and the Victory mile finish. |
| |
| Lots of great music. Very crowded course. |
| |
| Great experience and very well organized. However, if you don't like running among a crowd, I wouldn't recommend this race. |
| |
| Very well organized for 35K runners, lots of entertainment and water stops, running on the Brickyard was awesome, nice medal and tech shirt, flat course, weather in the 50-60's, great finish line. |
| |
| It was fun running on the race track, but the remainder of the course wasn't all the scenic. Somewhat disappointing. |
| |
| This was 20th straight mini 500. My times was slow this year since I've been dealing with some repetitive injuries to my feet. Always fun to be a part of a race with 35,000 runners. |
| |
| Great event from lining up with 35,000 runners/walkers to batting around beach balls to running the Brickyard to a great finishing chute! If you are a half marathoner do not miss this one! |
| |
| Great weather this year and it is a flat course. The 2 1/2 miles on the track is fun. They do a good job of crowd control with 35,000 runners. |
| |
| Had a great time! Being inside the Speedway for a couple of miles was great. I did not kiss the bricks, but it was cool to see them. Lots of crowd support and entertainment along the way--from belly dancing to line dancing. :-) |
| |
| Flat, flat, flat! Running the Brickyard was fun. The Victory Mile finish with the checkered banners and audio replays of some of the more famous Indy 500 finishes was a great way to end the half. |
| |
| Second year in a row for running the mini. Enjoyed it but it's time to branch out and do other events. |
| |
| Well organized race. Flat course. |
| |
| Ran it with the wife! |
| |
| My first half. Would like to run again sometime. |
| |
| My first half. The crowd support is phenomenal. Very nice course, very flat. You reach the Indy 500 motor speedway at about mile 6 and it is over two miles around. Recommend trying to get an early corral. My friends did not like being farther back. They said it was very crowded. |
| |
| Running the 500 track was so fun! |
| |
| First half marathon, it is a fabulous race. |
| |
| It was very windy and cold on race day, but once I started running I didn't notice the wind or cold very much. The race track was a real pick me up. Loved the cold weather and race! |
| |
| This was a good course. |
| |
| Fantastic! So much support, a great course, and unique run around the Indy 500 track. |
| |
| Huge race and fun! Very windy that day but all in all one that should be on everyone's list to do once. |
| |
| Nice race, colder weather than I expected. For such a large race, logistics were fantastic (parking, port a potties, get in and out of the race, etc). Running on the track was awesome, but do note you go through some very interesting areas of Indy. I would do this again. |
| |
| Windy! Fun running around the track. Large, well run race. |
| |
| Great event! Well supported ade/water, fun to run on the speedway track. Lots of band music along the way, basically flat course, good crowd support. Crowded, but fun and route wide enough to handle crowd. |
| |
| Excellent race. Flat course, lots of entertainment, cool atmosphere. |
| |
| Cool and windy, but fun to run on speedway. Crowded but flat course. |
| |
| Extremely well organized. Plenty of water stations, but beware the water stations are not bottled water. Their city water did not agree with my stomach. |
| |
| Awesome running the speedway. Flat course, plenty of water stations & entertainment. Well organized. |
| |
| The course was great but the weather was a bit cold and windy. The weather, of course, is outside of the control of the race organizers but everything within their control went well. The only thing I would change is having gel or sports beans at some point on the course.
| |
| Great Race |
| |
| Did better than I thought. Ran with another person and we were able to push each other for great times.
| |
| Race was very well organized. Course was mostly flat. Running on the speedway was a neat experience. Would do this race again. |
| |
| 47 degree temps with 27 mph wind gusts made for a very cold race! Lots of support throughout the course, amazing number of bands, the only major incline was the one into the speedway!! Flat and very fast! Great medal. |
| |
| Was 97% under/untrained, so that part was painful! Winds were BRUTAL this year. Running the Speedway was super cool!!! |
| |
| WOW! This has to be the most organized race I've run to date. Other races should take notes on how to run a race. Nice shirt and medal. Running through the Indy Speedway was a great expeirence. I strongly recommend this race. |
| |
| 2nd time at the Mini.......putzed along with 7 months pregnant daughter. Had a blast again! |
| |
| I like this event mainly because it's practically my own backyard. |
| |
| Very well organized race! |
| |
| At the time, a PR. |
| |
| This was the first time I returned to a race--still LOVED it! |
| |
| I really liked this race. It has been on my 'To Do List' for several years. It was big, crowded but very well organized. Was able to meet a few friends. My knee started hurting around mile 9 so I walked it in at that point. I would recommend and will try for a better time again.
| |
| I have ran this race for 18 years and continue to enjoy it every year. Running around the Indy Motor Speedway track is always a thrill even if it seems like it goes on forever. We had great weather this year- overcast and mid 50s. |
| |
| OUCH! Getting this time hurt. Just couldn't push myself this year. |
| |
| What a blast. Although it is tough getting a good pace going at the start, once you get on the Indy Speedway you can really pick up lost time. Possibly the best half marathon medal I own (which includes Disney). |
| |
| Great race. Well organized. Supportive onlookers. Running the IMS is kidna fun, although there is no water during this portion of the course (2.5miles). Expo is nice. T-shirts poor quality, although I hear they are switching to tech shirts for 2010. Downside is the number of runners. Took e 23 minutes to cross start and was cramped most of the way. I think walkers are great, but they sometimes have a tendency to go to the front of the start and then stride 4 across. If you are serious about your time, make sure you submit a preferred corral time. |
| |
| First time for this one. Loved it. Fast time, flat course, well organized, great weather this year.. all around fun..... |
| |
| Weather was perfect this year! |
| |
| great weather this year! the track is longer than i remembered it... well-supported race as usual. |
| |
| Very flat, fast course & excellent crowd & volunteer support thruout! Organization was top-notch. The lap at Speedway track made the whole thing, of course, But I suffered with a poor performance due to today's HIGH humidity & lack of recovery from Nashville's heat last weekend. THIS WAS MY 25th STATE- WAHOO!!! |
| |
| Flat, fast course. Very well-supported, especially for a race of this size. |
| |
| A very large but very well run event. Lots of crowd support and entertainment. Top notch until the end- when I came in, the finish shoot area was packed and at a standstill in areas. |
| |
| most fun and enjoyable half marathon i've ever run. the entertainment and course support was fabulous. nice warmup for the flying pig half the next day! |
| |
| Entertainment was top notch. Seemed like we had music every 100 yards. Best organized race I have every run. Didn't even notice there were 35,000+ running. City makes the event a big deal. |
| |
| Fun race--great entertainment along the course. Running around the Speedway was cool. Great race support--plenty of water and gatorade stations. |
| |
| It was great fun helping friends finish their first Indianapolis mini marathon |
| |
| My second time posting this -my first post disappeared. I like big "hooplah" races and this fit the bill with 35000 of my closest running friends. Course is flat, not scenic, but the Speedway is the highlight of the course. Entertainment throughout the course and decent spectator support. A lot of fun and I'll probably do this one again. |
| |
| Very well organized race for the largest half marathon only race. Great race support from volunteers and spectators throughout the course, lots of music along the course too. |
| |
| A fun race! Love the loop on the race track and community support. |
| |
| My first half ever! Loved the music and enthusiastic fans around the course. Running the lap around the track was great but felt so long to this newbie :) |
| |
| Well organized and lap around the track is cool. |
| |
| Weather was warm, but you never know what you will get in May |
| |
| :) first Race |
| |
| Excellent race organization - packet pick up and finish line was SO well organized. Enjoyed the route, especially running on the brick yard, but was disappointed that there was a huge crown at the finish but they were very quiet. Helped a friend get under two hours! Fun! |
| |
| Holy Moly these people know how to have crowds of people all moving in the same direction. My first "huge" event--very well organized. |
| |
| Amazing! Entertainment the whole way, loved going on the Indy Speedway. |
| |
| Great race...wonderful crowds, running thru the Indy 500 track was awesome..Great ending with the 1/10 markers on the last mile..made it go real fast! |
| |
| 2 Weeks after arthroscopic ankle surgery on left foot. Was just going slow and glad I finished |
| |
| The start line, track, finish was great. Places in between were OK. Aid stations on both sides of the race made it confusing. Lots of drink cups in road was dangerous. |
| |
| It was neat running around the speedway and the race was VERY organized but it seemed like there were far too many people on the course! It's a great one to do once! |
| |
| enjoyable! Lots of runners & course entertainment |
| |
| Extremely well-organized, entertainment literally one after another. Nice and flat, loved going through the Indy Speedway. |
| |
| I didn't even get to train for this event this year, but I wasn't going to let me entry to go waste. Time wasn't anywhere my best, but it was still fun. |
| |
| fabulous race, loved being on the racetrack. did it as part of a double with flying pig. |
| |
| My seventh, the weather was great, the bands etc were great. Very well organizeds as always. |
| |
| This was my 2nd time running this one. It has grown alot since I did it the first time. We did it to support a friend and it was glorious fun! |
| |
| Great race, well organized. The highlight was the loop around the Indy 500 track. Lots of bands, good support. Unfortunately I had to walk it due to an injury that occured two weeks prior. |
| |
| Awesome. One of the most fun races I have done. And so well organized. |
| |
| I walked this with my wife, her first half! The track was cool, the start and finish were great, and there were tons of bands playing. The course between the downtown and the track wasn't the most scenic. It aqlso took us 25 minutes to get to the start line. It was a lot of fun! |
| |
| This was my 17th time running this race and it just keeps getting bigger and better. Running around the motor speedway is such a thrill. The race is well oraganized, great entertainment and wonderful volunteers. I'll be back next year. |
| |
| As others have said, this race was superbly organized, with an amazing amount of entertainment along the way. I found the course quite flat. I'm looking forward to running it again when I'm better trained for it. |
| |
| This race had an enormous field of runners, but it was very well organized with excellent crowd support and many helpful volunteers. The course was mostly flat, and included a couple of miles on the speedway. The weather was cool and breezy, but humid and sunny. The early miles were tightly packed with runners, and the streets were mostly filled the whole way. It was a great race. |
| |
| This was the largest and one of the most well organized races I've done. The weather was almost perfect. The crowd was energizing. There was music all along the way. Running on the track was an experience. |
| |
| Nice course, slightly uphill on way out and slightly downhill on way back; but, Frank Shorter is correct when he sez that 13.1 miles is not a mini anything. I think that it would help any runner who is not familiar with the course to drive it first (except for the race track, of course) because you can not see much of what is ahead when there are so many runners. While it was not too hot, it had rained the night before and there was very, very high humidity and a couple of water hazards on the course. |
| |
| The race was great. Entertainment, volunteers, and organization were top-notch. A few too many entrants. |
| |
| Motor Speedway great! |
| |
| I loved this race. I was fortunate to be in an early corral. great local support and plenty of entertainment along the course. |
| |
| flat and fast course. great run. |
| |
| My first sub-2:30 mini-walk - Hence another PB |
| |
| Worst half marathon that I have run. Overweight and out of shape, really, so it is my fault. |
| |
| Love this one! |
| |
| too many runners,I will stay away for a while |
| |
| The best organized race! No matter what kind of runner a person is, this will be the event not to miss. |
| |
| Good race. |
| |
| Great race, my sixth time. |
| |
| This is the 15th time I've done this mini and I still love it. It's a real thrill to get to run on the Motor Speedway. The course is flat, fast and fun. |
| |
| Hometown event, now done 9 times, and each year I swear I will not come back, but always do. It is just an event to be experienced. 35K runners and walkers, almost constant entertainment, just a great morning to be running. This has to be one of the events you do sometime in your life. Register early! |
| |
| Great race - fun to run on the Indy Speedway and the large volume of runners is managed pretty well. |
| |
| I've run a handful of halfs, and this was by far and away the best organized I've seen, especially considering the volume of people. Good, relatively flat course that's abundantly well-supplied. |
| |
| This race was a lot of fun. Loved racing on the track. |
| |
| A great race again this year. Walked a bunch with my sister to make sure she finished, which she did! |
| |
| Very well organized. Wish the course were more pleasing to the eye. Ran through very run down areas. Running on the track was cool |
| |
| Very well run. Lots of potties and water. Between the spirit teams, bands, mile markers, 5k markers and water and gatorade...you were kept busy! Recommended |
| |
| Very nice, flat, organized run. The city was nice and walking on the race track was awesome. |
| |
| Best organised race ever...: no traffic jam toget there, no wait at the toilets, no wait at the water, no wait at the chip return, no wait at the free food, ... very nice!! |
| |
| Very well organized. My favorite part was running a lap on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I don't think my feet touched the ground!! |
| |
| Well organized and the race actually started on time with 35000 runners. Lots of support (bands, water, etc.) throughout the course which was relatively flat and fast. Running the Indy track was great but if you like to carb load I would strongly suggest skipping their pre-race pasta dinner. |
| |
| One of the best organized races especially with 35,000 runners. A definite PR course. It was a little humid this year but that's to be expected in early May. This is becoming a favorite race. Running on the Indy track is awesome!!! There must have been at least 30 bands along the way. |
| |
| Extremely well organized. No parking issues, plenty of water, support and entertainment. Even the weather was kind! |
| |
| awesome race as always. this was my 5th time running it and i'll go back next year. |
| |
| I loved this race. A lot of music, crowds, very well organized. The speedway was fun. I would run this one again. |
| |
| Good weather, superior bag drop via FedEx, half the field of 30,000 was their first Indy Mini, very well organized, largest half marathon |
| |
| Love all of the fanfare. Too bad I was hurt at mile 11 and struggled to get to the finish |
| |
| Awesome run! Amazing organization of 35,000 runners with 4,000 plus volunteers. More bands/music along the course than the two rock-n-roll halfs I've done. Running the Indianapolis Speedway is amazing; and a whole weekend of events and fun. (2:42, 2007) |
| |
| Although a large half, organization was excellent down to the Kroger bags at the end to collect food, water, etc! Cute medal though race course part is banked and in the sun. Super race! |
| |
| My to date Personal Best |
| |
| Ran much better this year. Cooler weather helped. |
| |
| Slow time, health problems again. |
| |
| This was my first half, I loved it. Running on the Indy 500 track was great. Well organized. |
| |
| this was a great day, a great half-marathon, just a joy to be out walking. |
| |
| Wonder course, 35000 runners, well done, beautiful day to run. Dwtn west, norrth to the track for a lap, then east to White River, then south to Dtwn. Signed up for 2007. |
| |
| . |
| |
| The Times Square at MN New Years of halfs. Incredible crowds and festivities. I have run this since 1988. It gets more and more amazing each year. Last year 35K runners. You run in a crowd the whole way with bands on every corner. Around the Indy 500 Speedway track is a thrill but long and hot. It is such a spectacle you have to do it once or twenty times. Enroll early; sells out before Thanksgiving! |
| |
| |
| (2003) |
| |
| WOW, This was the biggest race I ever ran. Getting to run on the Speadway was cool. |
| |
| So many people, hard to get around people....but this race is a lot of fun!!
Finally made a PR :) |
| |
| This race was a blast! I enjoyed the incredible crowd and course support, running the Speedway was very cool, and I got to meet up with a group of online friends who are runners also...which made it very neat. Very well put together and well organized, which is a feat considering the size of the field. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind running in a very large crowd of people...although that never seemed to hinder my pacing. |
| |
| This was the fourth time I have run this race, it was awesome as usual. Picture perfect weather this year. Great city to hang out in after. |
| |
| Great run. The volunteers were superb! How about that medal! A "first class run"! |
| |
| |
| This was a great race. With 35,000 racers, it was very well organized. Bands every half mile, great crowds and cheering sections, and the exciting run around the Speedway. I thought this was one of the funest halfs I have run.
| |
| This was a great race! The best part was running around the Indy track. It was also scenic at parts. As you approached the zoo if you looked up there was a Elephant just watching the runners go by. Can't wait to go back and run it again. Maybe next year I will actually train for it. |
| |
| This race was an absolute blast! It helped that we had perfect weather 42-62 degrees. The huge crowd of 35,000 was fun and while crowded it wasn't claustrophobic. Very well organized. Smaller expo than I expected. Highly recommend it! Even get to do a lap around the Indy 500 track! |
| |
| great with 35, 000 runners; glad i was in corral E and not Z |
| |
| With Indy being my hometown, the Mini is my favorite race. Running on the track is great. The amount of volunteers is unbelievable. Everything is very organized! |
| |
| Great weather, flat course, lots of runners, well organized and very cool running the Indy 500 track (thank goodness they ran the pits so we didn't do the banked track). Definitely one for all you Half2Halfer's to run to pick up Indiana |
| |
| This is the biggest race I've ever particpated in, and it was awesome. Totally well organized. The weather this year couldn't have been more perfect. It was also fun to be a seeded runner for the first time in my life. |
| |
| CLASS ACT! Downtown Indy is beautiful--tons of restaurants and shopping (Brewery, Hard Rock, PF Changs). Scenic course through downtown, past Zoo and ON THE TRACK! More music than Rock n Roll Phoenix/Nashville (bands AT LEAST every half mile--a sometimes 2-3 in a row!) Husband was amazed at the crowds and had trouble finding me after the race--35,000 participants! Thanks to Hilton Garden Inn for opening breakfast early (5:30 am) for the runners. Not one complaint! To the fireman doing the race in full uniform including face mask and tank--you were an inspiration. Thank you! |
| |
| Indianapolis has it down to a science on how to ru a race. With 35,000 runners, I thought it would be miserable, but it was great. They have all of the roads closed, so runners are not restricted to small places, plus they have entertainment about every 10th of a mile. Getting the chance to run around the track is pricesless!! |
| |
| First half marathon I ever ran in 1995. I have done this event 8 times in total, with another planned May 2006. I have run my PR here (1:47:53 in 01), plus walked it last year with my sister who was doing her first Mini! |
| |
| I have ran this race twice in 2004 and 2005, with 30,000 runner's entered in the half marathon the excitement level is definitely intoxicating. But both years it was hot and the spin around the Speedway only lead to nasty blisters because the asphalt is so hot. Extremely well organized but don't expect at any time during the race to not be jockeying for position. The race always sells out around Dec. 1 so if you are interested register early. |
| |
| A flat course that included a lap in the Indianpolis Speeddway. Very well organized race with great spectator support. Awesome finish line area. I ran this race in 2005. It was very hot that day. A very crowded race with 30,000 people registered. I will be running this again in 2006. |
| |
| Largest race I ever ran, 26000 people and two starting lines. Crowd support was great. I ran this May 4, 2002 |
| |
| Always great to run around the motor speedway. |
| |
| ran this race from a friend's bib number since i missed the registration before it sold out. great course. |
| |
| First ever mini-walk. |
| |
| Not the best day for me, but still a good race. |
| |
| I did the race in 2004 and 2005. Because of the heat in 2005 they bumped up the time. It's a flat course, and the speedway is fun at first, but long and tedious soon afterward. This is the biggest half marathon around I think, and there are lots of spectators and bands to keep you motivated. It's fun once, but I'll probably never try it again. |
| |
| getting to be too many people |
| |
| First half marathon ever! |
| |
| The start of some health problems, but still a great race. |
| |
| the oven was ON in Indy that morning, luckily finished before the caution flags went up, had 8 min miles through markers 5 and 10 but 9 min mile the last 5k for 8:26 pace(25,028 runners!) |
| |
| Well organized but not very scenic. |
| |
| Great half-marathon -- very well-organized and a lot of fun! |
| |
| Ran the 2004 race. Was amazing to rum with over 30,000 other runners/walkers. Also fantastic crowds that keep you pumped up throughout the course. Then to run on the race track was a big bonus. Already signed up for the 2006 race that will have 35,00 runners. |
| |
| With close to 30,000 runners, you are never along. The highlight was running around the Indianapolis speedway. |
| |
This race is a must! What an experience...it's very organized and there is a lot of fan support. The track is awesome, even if you're not an Indy Fan. I heard a lot about it, and finally got the chance to run on 5/7/05. I ran the first 10 miles w/ a friend, and even though we didn't get a PR, it seemed to fly by. The best part is the count down at the finish...3/4 mile to go; 1/2 mile to go; 1/4 mile to go...how motivating! I'd definitely do this one again.
| |
| |
| Great race, well organized. The run around the racetrack can't be beat. |
| |
I ran this in 2001 and it was my first ever half marathon. Running on the Indy track was awesome.
| |
I've run the race almost every year since 1997. Now it's run on a Saturday, but the first few years I ran it was on Friday, so there were a lot more spectators (school kids, office empolyees) along the way then. Still a great race, though!
| |
| Nice weather for a change-lots of support from onlookers. Entertainment along the way encouraged me to keep going. I don't like walking around the track because it is usually too hot. |
| |
| (2005) I liked this Half-marathon a lot. It was my 4th half-marathon ever, and finishing it a week after the Flying Pig Marathon was quite a task. I took off more time (obviously not as hilly as the Pig), but I really enjoyed the scenery and the crowd support. The track was HOT... but seeing the pace cars (all Vettes) and the water stations helped! |
| |
| HAVE RUN THIS RACE SEVERAL TIMES. LIKED IT BETTER WHEN THERE WAS A DUAL START. LIKE THE TRINITRON AT THE TRACK CAUSE THAT'S WHERE I'M USUALLY AT WHEN THE ELITES ARE CROSSING THE FINISH. SINCE I'M A HOOISER IT'S ALWAYS A "TO DO" RACE!

| Did this race on May 7, 2005. |
| |
| Great! Cool start with warm but not uncomfortable temps. by the finish. The massive number of people at the starting line is awe-inspiring. Lots of course entertainment, and a very organized race. This was my
second time running this race, and I immediately registered for next year as well. This is a must run. |
| |
| (2005) This was my fastest half so far! The spectator support was UNREAL!! They do a good job hyping you up months before, PLENTY of water, running around the Indy 500 track was an amazing experience...EVERYONE should run this one!
http://www.500festival.com/events/event.asp?event_id=709 |
| |
| (2003) A race that can never be topped! The support was unreal. Since there nothing but a 1/2 they truly treat you like you're #1 and not just doing 1/2 of the real thing. Everyone needs to do this race. |
| |
| AWSOME, 2nd time running this and found out about Half2Run at the expo. I dig Indy and this is a great way to see it on foot. The lap around the track is not to be compared for a life long Indy 500 fan. One draw back, which will keep me from doing a 3rd, expensive. Not the race, it's the hotel, meals, parking, etc. |
| |
| I ran this race in 2004. It was my first half marathon ever. The day was very hot, but the course was pretty good. I definitely took my time on this one. |
| |
| I ran this race in 2004 and it was super hot +85 degrees. They ran out of water on the Indy track. This year they moved up the start time so it was a cooler race. |
| |
| Managed to break my foot before the 2 mile point in 2003. Came back in 2004 - finished after helping one of the runners who required medical attention.
2005 - Finally, an uneventful year |
| |
| What a party! |
| |
| I loved the lap around the track, but this year it was warmer than I expected and coming from Houston, that's saying something. I loved the size of the race and as slow as I am. my corral took almost 24 minutes to reach the start line after the gun went off. |
| |
| I ran this race in 2000 when it was very hot and black flagged while we were running. I ran it with my daughter and we took a limo ride home as my husband promised he would rent us one if we survived the training program and the race |
| |
| This race is great! Just the enormity of it is exciting. It was very weel organized with plenty of water and gatorade. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is spectacular. |
| |
| This was a great race - lots of great entertainment along the course, flat course, easy to get around the city. Only drawback is the heat!! |
| |
| This was my 2nd half marathon. This year was was easier than last because it was not as hot and humid. Very good volunteer support and a very organized event. Even for us "locals", it's always cool to see the Speedway. |
| |
| Race was good. Not too scenic, but well supported by volunteers. |
| |
| WOW ! To run on the Indianapolis 500, to me that is what this is all about. Way cool !!!!! Very well organized. My first Half Marathon. Met Half-2-Run at the expo. The expo was very nice. |
| |
| I would definitely recommend this race to others. Very well organized. Lots of support on the course with bands, cheerleaders and 17 water stops. |
| |
| Nice and flat, warm day. Interesting to see them talking to the female winner on the Jumbotron as I'm getting to the track--guess I was a little behind her! Posting the results by gun time was confusing. I was using my watch close to my chip time so didn't really "see" my gun time finish. I know the 2 times were 13-15:00 different. Am considering a repeat trip. |
| |
| Very well organized, the bands and volunteers were wonderful! The course was flat and the weather hot. |
| |
| This race was really well organized from the Expo to the corraling of the runners. I never felt crowded and running on the speedway was a big thrill since I work for Shell in the Pennzoil division! Great to see the Half to Run Staff at the Expo. You guys are great! |
| |
| I love this race. I would have had a better time, but I spun out and crashed in turn four. |
| |
| My first half and it was great. The huge number of people made the start very slow but I eventually got going. Plenty of water stations. Well organized. You can tell the city really gets behind this race...everybody goes all out for it. |
| |
| It was not as hot as last years race but was just as crowded. I was happy to break my 1:41 curse. 2003 and 2004 I ran a 1:41. Post race festivities were fun. |
| |
| What a great race!!! Kudos to everyone involved. If this is your first half, you will be disappointed in all your other races. |
| |
| |
| 2nd year in a row and llover it more each time. The best of the best |
| |
| My First Half Marathon!!! Looking back I think I should have done a different race, because that one was so cool and so much fun- it won't compare to any other halfs out there. I'm totally spoiled now. They had music all the time, throughout the whole course at least 50 different bands. We ran around the speedway which it very cool to say I ran around that thing, plus they had great music. I ran a great race too. I was slow, but steady. I was at 1 hour (exactly) at 5 miles, 2 hours (exactly) at 10 miles and ran a 33 minute 5k to finish the race. So, I'm pretty happy with my first half marathon experience and I'm ready to knock out 24 more! |
| |
| What a crowd!! I felt like I was at a tailgate party the whole race. Very Fun! A great race for the whole family. |
| |
| difficult to settle into a pace with so many runners. still best race i've done so far. perfect weather ,beautiful city. |
| |
| For such a large event, this was wonderfully managed. Had a great time -- absolutely loved the city and the run around the Speedway was really fun. Set a PR! |
| |
| It was great! Very organized. Fun to run on the INDY 500 racetrack. Friendly, clean town, easily to get aroung |
| |
| I thought this was a very nice and easy course. Race track an interesting diversion. Very urban. Concrete. Lots of humans. Note that If you run the half in Miami, you also see not so nice areas. Great Volunteers, organization and the chance to find out about HALF-2-RUN. |
| |
| Very well organized race, especially with 30K runners. I liked the seeded start but did not like the pre-race prayer. Lots of music along the way and a warm, humid day. The people were very nice, it was a fun run, but not a PR run due to warm weather. |
| |
| Very well organized. Lots of runners. Weather was great. |
| |
| I did this event in 2004 (May 8th). This was the first race that I specifically planned to travel out of state for and I did so just to run on the oval. It was very hot that day. In fact, they red flagged the event shortly after I crossed the finish line (2:48 clock, 2:32 chip) because a runner had died of a heart attack on the course. Expo was very well-organized. Met the Penguin, John Bingham. They advertise the number of acts along the course, but that wasn't a real factor to my enjoyment of the event. The 5 miles that included a lap around the track was markedly slower than the first 5 miles (and you don't recognize that it was the heat of the track.) Running into the track underneath the entrance was cool! |
| |
| I have run this race every year since 2001 and will be running it again in 2005. It is an exceptionally well managed race. I agree with dankorte on the track being hot- and it is in the middle of the race. You finish the track and you better have something left for the last 5 miles... I love crossing the bridge for the last mile - it seems like a llloooonnnngggg mile, but the cheering crowds make it worthwhile. My best time is what I put in for my finish - that was in 2004 |
| |
| I did this race in 2003 (5/3/03) and it was a good race with seeded start. There was about 25,000 runners when I did this race which made it the biggest half marathon in the country. There was a good finish line party and the run around the Indy 500 speedway was a definite highlight. |
| |
| Great race. Lap around speedway is cool. Race is usually on the warm side. I've run this race three times, temp is always around 75 degrees. |

Great race -- pretty much flat, and the loop in the Speedway is a cool novelty. |
| |
| |
| Loved it! Originally from Indiana so it was a must for me! |
| |
| It was really hot the day we ran in 2001.neat to go around the track but went thru some not so "scenic" portions of the area. Great finish line area and easy to meet up with friends there. results posted at online results. |
| |
| Very hot. Ran out of water. Great course. |
| |
| Very Hot |
| |
| flat and fast course. |
| |
| Second time running the race. Much warmer and more humid this year. |
| |
| hot and flat and lots of runners |
| |
| The heat & humidity were real bad race day. |
| |
| Flat course, plenty of water stops. |
| |
| Holy schmoly, it was hot! The race clock was finally shut off because of the heat. Just glad to finish -- my worse time ever. Well organized race, though. |
| |
| Running around the 500 track was unforgettable. A must for every half2runner. |
| |
| |
| I ran this race in 2004; Indianapolis Life was title sponsor then. Well organized; 30,000 runners moved effortlessly. Unseasonably warm raceday. Lap around the speedway adds a lot to the race. |
| |
| (2004) This is a pretty fun race and running a lap around the Speedway is definately an experience...but it gets hot on the track and there isn't a ton of wind. Great race weekend and expo though. |
| |
| Rainy |
| |
| flat and fast course. great run. |
| |
| Great race and course. Nothing beats running on the Indy 500 track. Great race for me, too. |
| |
| still hot and flat |
| |
| Yah, they do get a little easier. |
| |
| Great race. I love running on the 500 track. Well organized race. |
| |
| It was fun to run on the speedway, eventhough it was hot (and for some reason the mister/fans weren't operational). Nice medal. |
| |
| Nice flat course, really warm/hot weather (at least for this West Coast gal -- not used to heat and humidity). Very well organized, especially the corrals at the start, which helped the race flow smoothly. The community really seemed to get into it, which was nice. Best part for me was running the lap around the Indy track, even though it was quite warm. |

| This event is walker and runner friendly. Flat course and great crowd support on the course. |
| |
| Good race. Weather was extremely hot. Big crowd. Otherwise you run on the Indy track. Well supported. |

| |
| At the time, it was too crowded at the start. They have corrected that. Flat and fast |
| |
| I racewalked this race and it's very walker friendly. Plenty of water stops and crowd support. |
| |
| I really like the fact that you run around the Brickyard--very nice! |
| |
| Sunny |
| |
| Starts in downtown Indianapolis and goes to the Motor Speedway then back. It's pretty exciting getting to run on the 500 track. |
| |
| the best part is running around the indy track |
| |
| Very good race, but the field has gotten very big. |
| |
| First ran this with my daughter in 1997 and have run it several times since. A great race, but it is getting too crowded. |
| |
| Hilly. |
| |
| Race is in downstown Indianapolis and includes a trip around the Indpls. 500 Motor Speedway. It's a large race with entertainment on the course. |
| |
| Fun race with a great finish line and recovery area. Race has a great support staff. |
| |
| The best part of this race is getting to run some on the Indy 500 race track!! Exciting! |
