First year event and for me even though it is close to home this is a one and done event. The Hills at mile 10 were very difficult and most runners around me were walking. A finish aroung the race track on sand may have sounded good but it was not worth it. The only saving grace was that the net proceeds were going to Cancer Research. However, I later found out that the donation made was very small. Disappointing.

Course: Mainly uphill. Some steep downhills. In addition, the last 1/2 mile is on the horse track. It is sand. Hard to get footing at times. Don't like going from 12.5 miles on blacktop to sand. Weather: rain stopped just as the race started. Then, the sun came out. Can you say shake and bake? With the combo hills and weather, I was done at 10. Coasted in. Post race was okay. Nothing special. Bananas, water, bagels... Shirt was not white, it was red. That I liked. Parking was packed. I parked a mile away and used that as my warm-up. In the end, if you want hills, you got it. If not, avoid this one.
